Genre: Sci-Fi, Zombie, Military, Post-Apocalypse, Cult Classic, Mad Scientists, Monsters, Vampires, Murder, Gore, Cannibals, Suspense
Tagline: First there was "NIGHT of the LIVING DEAD" then "DAWN of the DEAD" and now the darkest day of horror the world has ever known
Plot: The third chapter in the saga that director George Romero started in 1968 with NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD moves the story further along the timeline of the zombie apocalypse to a time when survivors are few and far between. At an underground Florida research station, Dr. Logan (Richard Liberty) conducts grotesque experiments on captured zombies to search for a way that the living and the living dead can cohabitate. Begrudgingly sharing the facility with the doctor is military man Rhodes (Joe Pilato) and his underlings. Scientist Sarah (Lori Cardille) and her fellow survivors seek refuge at the compound just in time to see a clash between Logan and Rhodes reach a critical turning point.DAY OF THE DEAD stands as the most controversial film in the series. While some feel that its confined, talky nature prevents it from achieving the constant white-knuckle thrills of the previous two films, others admire its strides toward figuring out what drives the zombies. Regardless, the third act features the most extreme and well-executed special effects in the series, with several gory sequences that will leave an undeniable impression on those who witness

The whole screenplay to Day of the Dead was good, great even, but it was not as gripping as Night or Dawn. Leonard Maltin said that it was easily the least of the trilogy. I'd actually have to agree with him on this one, but I do believe that it is one of the best zombie movies out there.--Rivera (Diabolical-Dominion.com)
Although not quite on par with its two sublime predecessors, Day of the Dead is an important and engrossing landmark of horror history.--Cortney Fusco (Diabolical-Dominion.com)
So while Romero and Savini are at the top of their game, the film does tend to drag a lot between zombie carnage, thanks to a lot of dull characters, and it just isn’t the comic bookish good time Dawn was.--Ian Button (Diabolical-Dominion.com)
Talky sequel to Dawn Of The Dead and finale of Romero's trilogy is packed with the expected gore and is interesting enough to be watchable. The poorest of the three still. -- (TheVideoGraveYard.com)
The film does, however, stand on its own in the series, with its own feel and atmosphere. It also does try to take the series in something of a new direction, examining the way the zombie mind functions, but frankly, I don't know how much I really care. --Jack Witzig (ColdSpot)
Disappointing follow-up to Romero's action-packed "Dawn of the Dead"... It's a boring film, despite some mind-blowing gore effects by Tom Savini. No exploding heads though.-- (eSplatter.com)
I could watch this movie over and over again just because of the dark elements. If you haven't seen this film you really should. It isn't as good as Night, or Dawn of the Dead, but it's worth the expirence. --Zaero (Bloody-Disgusting.com)

Different from the previous two dead films, but definately not the worst in the trilogy. Excellent gore and a lot of good zombie-tearing-bodies-apart action. A MUST see for zombie fanatics.--FrighT MasteR (UHM)
This film has one purpose – to shock. And it does. I have never seen such gory death scenes in my entire cinema going career. When it was made the local abattoirs must have thought it was Christmas. 5/10--Stuart Crawford (thefilmasylum.com)
Overall the movie is a good one and it is one of the great zombie movies made to date. Go check it out if your a hardcore horror fan, a granny, anyone will like this movie. -- (terrorwatch.net)
