A groundbreaking documentary about the life and music of Portuguese singer and songwriter Amalia Rodrigues, THE ART OF AMÁLIA is the fourth movie that director Bruno de Almeida has made about her. This movie, the only one to be released after her death (she died on October 6, 1999, one week before the movie's completion), includes archival concert footage and interviews. In addition, the film uses English narration and English subtitles as it aims to reach international audiences who may not be familiar with Rodrigues's legacy in her native Portugal.
