Director Roger Spottiswoode makes the most of the close quarters he had to work in by keeping the claustrophobia tight and the production design appealing.--Ryan Rotten (horrorchannel.com)
This installment of the Curtis horror anthology had terraced dynamics with me. At points I was really into it (oddball points) and others I scoffed and started applying my ham-handed intellect - aloud. It's not AS derived from Halloween as some jaded people like to think, but I did draw some similarities while watching. Shocking as it may seem, Terror Train (like the equally mediocre Prom Night) has achieved semi-classic status among horror fans. Albiet, not as much as (you guessed it - ) Halloween.--C. Lochlyn Carter (Diabolical-Dominion.com)
With an ideal setting for a slasher flick and a few nice moments this really isn't anything more than a pretty average time that manages to have a few alright suspense moments and has an above average 'chase scene' in the finale; but suffers from having a pretty slow mid-section and Ben Johnson in a wasted role as the train's conductor. -- (TheVideoGraveYard.com)

Not as bad as some of the other "Halloween" clones that came out in the early 1980s, this film does have the distinction of starring the Halloween scream queen herself, Curtis, and features a pretty kick-ass chase scene at the end.-- (eSplatter.com)
Terror Train is a well crafted horror flick that was indeed ahead of its time. We've been so mind-fuc*ed by movies like 'Sixth Sense' that it's rare when we find enjoyment in movies that are so simple like Terror Train. --Mr. Disgusting (Bloody-Disgusting.com)
