1.  It was the best of times, It was the worst of times. Based on the novel by Charles Dickens, A Tale Of Two Cities (1958) takes place in England and France during the chaotic French Revolution in 1775. This classic film was shot in black and white, and stars British film actor Dirk Bogarde as the cynical English lawyer, Sydney Carton.
