The start of a horror odessy, I've always considered this film somewhat of an epic. The only fault lies with the fact that it set a standard that three couldn't surpass. It's one of the best horror sequels around and if you've missed it this far you justhave to go pick it up...

This follow-up moves at breakneck speed with excellent effects and a great story, but a lame sequel set-up finale.

The second Phantasm film is noticably darker than the first one, and that is to the benefit of this film's atmosphere and mood. Unfortunately, the same darkening of atmosphere also makes this film less fun than its predecessor.
