Cary Grant portrays multi-millionaire Ernest Bliss, a young man who has lots of money but little to do. He seeks the help of a physician who decides that wealth is Ernest's problem and prescribes a unique cure: Ernest must go to work and earn his own living for a year, using none of his current wealth. Betting his doctor 50,000 pounds that he can, his amazing adventure begins! Moving from one job to the next, he quickly rises from his position as a chauffeur to the executive boardroom. On his climb he learns many lessons of humility and falls in love with a young secretary (Mary Brian). Will Ernest's amazing adventure end happily? More than 60 years after it was filmed, the movie's last scenes will still surprise you!
