The character Jose Quesada's name is a reference to Marvel's editor-in-chief, Joe Quesada, who also did the artwork for a Daredevil storyline written by famous director Kevin Smith, who makes a cameo in the movie as the morgue worker Kirby, which is a reference to comic book legend Jack Kirby.

Also in the boxing sequence, Jack Murdock is talking to a boxing manager who orders Jack to lose. During the conversation, he lists all of his fighters, whose names are "Miller...Mack...Bendis". This is a reference to Daredevil writers, such as Frank Miller, David Mack and Brian Michael Bendis (who is currently working on Ultimate Spider-Man and Daredevil).
