House of the Dead Reviews

external link"The House of the Dead" is the sort of delightfully bad teen splatter flick that exists without any excuse in the world. It is a rip-off of countless previous slasher films, and of every known zombie movie, but I can't imagine the filmmakers would be surprised or offended if you pointed that out to them. [read review]

external linkI personally expected an excuse for filmmakers to throw teenagers onto an island looking for a party only to instead find shotguns and zombies. And I was ready to enjoy such an excuse, but instead was miserably bored watching one of the worst films of the year. [read review] 2/10
--Scott Spicciati (Movie-Vault.com)
external linkIt's just painful stuff, folks - and even the production values seem low considering this managed to stumble its way into theatres. Heck, even the big pay-off twist in the ending is godawful and almost as big a waste as the entire movie. Besides, who actually likes acrobatic, sprinting zombies anyway? [read review] 0/4
-- (TheVideoGraveYard.com)
external linkA horrible zombie flick. It has a good amount of nudity and gore, but in the end fails to gather up a good story. The directing is also very bad, because we're thrown a bunch of lame slow-motion sequences and stupid video-game footage, which really had no point in being there aside from just adding slightly more to the running time. Don't bother with this unless you're a big zombie buff. I'd recommend just waiting for Resident Evil: Apocalypse. [read review] 5/10

external linkYou’ve seen the commercials with a bunch of young people firing endless rounds into zombies. Well, that’s the movie, minus DMX’s rapping. Sure, there are a couple of bare breasts here and there, but what you see in those 90-second spots is what’s waitingfor you at the multiplex. [read review] 1/5
--Pete Croatto (FilmCritic.com)
external linkCutting around frantically in a vain attempt to stir up some energy, the director, Uwe Boll, drops in occasional images from the video game itself, as if he were subliminally trying to remind ticket buyers why they showed up in the first place. [read review]
--Dave Kehr (The New York Times)
external linkWhile not the worst zombie film ever made, it is certainly the most awful example of the genre to hit the big screen in many, many years, and, like the nasty flesh-eaters themselves, it should be avoided at all costs for your own safe survival. [read review]
--John Dedeke (Diabolical-Dominion.com)
external linkHOUSE OF THE DEAD, once again, raises the age-old question: how do movies like this get financed by anyone? This film has everything in it for anyone looking for a bad screenplay, bad acting, bad editing, bad directing and a bad soundtrack. [read review] 3/10
--'JoBlo' (JoBlo.com)
external linkWords cannot express how poor House of the Dead really is. Even the much maligned Italo-zombie flicks Burial Ground and Zombie Creeping Flesh/Hell of the Living Dead at least had a bit of narrative thrust to them. [read review] 0.5/5

external linkI've been racking my brain trying to come up with some new word to describe just how bad this film is, and I think combining "atrocious" with "unredeemable." "House of the Dead" is simply unatredemablocious. [read review] 0.5/5
