Robert Loggia in Return to Me (2000)

Few can boast the distinguished career of veteran actor ROBERT LOGGIA (Angelo Pardipillo). With more than 60 films to his credit, Loggia is still working non-stop. He was recently seen in the CBS four-hour miniseries Joan of Arc with Leelee Sobieski, Jacqueline Bisset, Kiefer Sutherland and Peter Strauss.

A native of New York City, Loggia received a B.A. in journalism at the University of Missouri and then spent two years in the army during the Korean War. After returning to New York to study with Stella Adler, he gained immediate attention off-Broadway as Frankie Machine in "The Man With the Golden Arm." It was at this time that he was also invited to become a lifetime member of the prestigious Actors Studio.

Loggia made his feature film debut in Somebody Up There Likes Me in 1955, and has since become one of Hollywood's premiere character actors, appearing in such motion pictures as The Greatest Story Ever Told, Revenge of the Pink Panther, The Ninth Configuration and S. O.B. In the 1 980s, he began the decade with An Officer and a Gentleman and ended it with Big. In the interim, Loggia was nominated for an Academy Award for Jagged Edge in 1986, and also starred in Scarface, Prizzi 's Honor, The Believers, Gaby - A True Story, Over the Top, That 's Life and Triumph of the Spirit.

Thus far in the 1 990s, Loggia has been seen in I Love Trouble, Bad Girls, The Marrying Man, Necessary Roughness, Innocent Blood, Gladiator, David Lynch's Lost Highway, Smilla 's Sense of Snow, The Holy Man, The Proposition, Wide Awake and also co-starred opposite Will Smith, Jeff Goldblum and Bill Pullman in Independence Day, one of the biggest box office hits of all time.

On Broadway, Loggia has starred in "Toys in the Attic," "Three Sisters" and "In The Boom Boom Room." On the small screen, he co starred with Laura Dern in the HBO production of Afterburn and in the Oliver Stone produced miniseries Wild Palms. His other TV movies include Jake Lassiter, Mercy, Cold-Blooded, LifePod, Mercy Mission and White Mile. Loggia has also stared in numerous television series, including Disney's The Nine Lives of Elfego Baca, T.H.E. Cat, Sunday Dinner and the miniseries Favorite Son, which then spawned Man cuso F.B.I., a series that earned him an Emmy nomination in the 1990-91 season. He received a CableACE Award nomination for his portrayal of William Kunstler in The Trial of the Chicago Eight.

Most recently, Loggia starred in the Showtime movies Joe Torre: Curveballs Along the Way and National Lampoon 's The Godfather 's Analyst, as well as HBO's Mistrial and in the highly rated NBC miniseries, Pandora 's Clock. He was also seen this past December in TNT's Hard Times with Burt Reynolds, who also directed the film.
