Tagline: Sometimes love is a stranger. And sometimes it's someone you've known all your life.
Plot: Con Ed worker Gus (Matt Dillon) hopes to partner with his co-workers and realize his dream of refurbishing his old neighborhood bowling alley. There's only one hitch in Gus’s business venture: he doles out so much alimony to his ex-wife Lee (Annabella Sciorra)--a continuing education student dating her married English lit professor (William Hurt)--that it keeps him in a financial straitjacket. To relieve himself of the monetary burden and be able to invest in the bowling alley, Gus decides to marry Lee off. First, however, he has the onerous job of finding her "Mr. Right." Gus seeks potential mates for Lee at his job site, at traffic lights and anywhere else he can find them, resulting in a series of hopeless dates for his ex. In the matchmaking process, Gus realizes that Lee's perfect mate is closer than either of them ever suspected.
