 Synopses for McHale's Navy (1997)
1.Retired Lieutenant Commander Quinton McHale spends his days puttering around the Caribbean in the old PT-73 selling homebrew, ice cream, and swimsuit calendars. He's brought out of retirement when his old nemesis turned the second best terrorist in the world, Major Vladikov, takes over the island of San Moreno and starts building a nuclear launch silo on it. With help from his old crew and hindrances from Captain Wallace B. Binghampton, who sank a cruise liner a while back, McHale tries to put Vladikov out of business.

2.

Fans of the early-'60s sitcom are naturally disappointed by this more juvenile approach to the old concept, which found Navy Captain McHale commanding a merry band of hustlers in the Pacific. Tom Arnold plays the updated title character, and while there's every reason he could have done a fine job, the script eschews the show's tone for something broader and dumber. A lost opportunity, all right, and the original McHale, Ernest Borgnine, appears to give it his blessing with a cameo as Pentagon brass. --Tom Keogh

3.Ahoy! The Navy will never be the same after Captain McHale and his ragtag band of bumbling misfits are called upon to defend the base of San Ysidro Island from an evil terrorist bent on world domination. Based on the popular comic television series starring Ernest Borgnine, who appears in a cameo.
