Katherine Heigl ("27 Dresses," "The Ugly Truth") will star in and executive produce the romance film "Life as We Know It" for Warner Bros. Pictures says Variety.

The story follows two unattached adults whose worlds are turned upside down when their mutual best friends die in an accident and name them as caregivers for their orphaned daughter.

Greg Berlanti ("Brothers and Sisters," "Dirty Sexy Money") will direct, Barry Josephson and Paul Brooks are producing.
