Whatever the classification of Alien, it is a great rumination on the human fear of the body being taken over by a foreign entity, and it works nicely utilizing many different forms of terror - whether they be creatures lurking in the shadows or a vast government conspiracy. Perhaps one of the most influential sci-fi / horror films of it's time which spawned several major sequels and several minor doppelganger. Although it now looks a little dated by today's standards it can still encourage the meek to sit with a cushion on their knee just in case. [read review] 9/10 --Vaughan Dyche (thefilmasylum.com)
Put quite frankly, this movie scares the shit out of you from beginning to end. Not in the rampaging, constant adrenaline rush-way of its sequel, but with at a slow, methodical pace punctuated with moments of stark terror. [read review] -- (Bloody-Disgusting.com)

It's the best horror-science fiction film ever made. Like "The Exorcist," it spawned countless imitations which are still being cranked out today. [read review] -- (eSplatter.com)
While not my very favorite Alien film, this one started it all, and is as effecrive now as it was over 20 years ago. Fit for any fans library [read review] -- (horrorview.com)
