Jennifer Connelly in Pollock (2000)

Since her film debut at the age of eleven in Sergio Leone's gangster epic "Once Upon A Time in America," JENNIFER CONNELLY (Ruth Kligman) has proven that her talent and beauty can withstand growing up in the Hollywood limelight. In addition to her role in "Pollock," Connelly stars in the upcoming "Requiem for a Dream," directed by Darren Aronofsky, also starring Jared Leto, Ellen Burstyn, and Marlon Wayans. This fall, Connelly will star in Fox's new series for Darren Star entitled "The Street."

In "Waking the Dead," Connelly stars opposite Billy Crudup in a story about a congressional candidate who questions his sanity after seeing the love of his life, who is presumed dead, suddenly emerge. Previously, Connelly was teamed with Crudup in "Inventing the Abbotts," where she plays a fun loving, free-spirited young girl in a 1950's family.

Connelly shows great diversity in the roles that she has played: in the ensemble 1950's crime drama "Mullholland Falls," she co-stars as a femme fatale and in John Singleton's "Higher Learning," she portrays a feminist coed. Other films include "Of Love and Shadows," in which she played a very convincing South American journalist, and Disney's "The Rocketeer," where she portrayed a damsel in distress who was kidnapped by Nazis. She was also seen in the comedy "Career Opportunities," as an heiress locked in a department store with the handsome night janitor.

Perhaps one of her most recognizable roles was opposite David Bowie and a crew of muppets in Jim Henson's "Labyrinth," where she played a heroic teenager. Prior to that, Jennifer could be seen in "Seven Minutes in Heaven."
