Tagline: Saved from the hangman, for a fate worse than death!
Plot: Jack Nicholson directs and stars as a downtrodden outlaw who finds a loophole that lets him evade the gallows by slipping a wedding ring on a lonely spinster (Mary Steenburgen). Not much for the married life, he is then forced to work on her gold mine as he dreams of escaping to Mexico. This bawdy western comedy marked the screen debut of Steenburgen and features John Belushi and Christopher Lloyd in hilarious supporting turns as corrupt deputies.
