Synopses for Friday After Next (2002)
1.

Ice Cube (Barbershop) uses his relaxed, raffish charm to glide through the third movie in his Friday series. As Craig (Cube) and Day-Day (Mike Epps) sleep in the wee hours of Christmas Eve, a burglar dressed like Santa Claus breaks in and steals their presents and rent. Thus begins a classically bad day full of unsympathetic family members, obnoxious neighbors, squealing pimps, pot smoking, and sexy babes. No one's going to win any awards for this sloppy installment, loaded with preening stereotypes and half-hearted low humor; Cube generally plays straight man and lets the rest of the cast screech, yowl, and contort their faces, their performances as ornate and ritualized as a Japanese Noh play. But if you're a fan, Friday After Next will give you a modest dose of Cube's goofy humor. John Witherspoon and Don "D.C." Curry return as Craig's eternally disgruntled father and uncle. --Bret Fetzer

2.It is Christmas Eve for most of the Christian world, but when Craig (Ice Cube) and Day-Day (Mike Epps) are rudely awaken by a burglar in a Santa suit, it is definitely another FRIDAY in the ghetto. The phony Santa gets away with all the cousins' Christmas gifts and their overdue rent money after assaulting Craig with a paltry Christmas tree. Cops are called in and do little more than confiscate Craig and Day-Day's pot stash. Though the cousins may be used to such adversity in the 'hood, they have never before had to think about getting real jobs in order to pay the bills. This third installment in the hip-hop stoner series follows L.A.'s lovable losers through their first day as rent-a-cops at a South Central strip mall.

As each problem they encounter becomes more and more ridiculous, screenwriter and star Ice Cube and first-time director Mark Raboy have constructed an irreverent African-American holiday farce. The film builds to a fever pitch at a holiday party where nearly every character in the film shows up for a wild finale. The supporting cast delivers outrageously amusing portraits of ghetto stereotypes while composer John Murphy paces the film by deftly blending hip-hop with traditional film scoring.

3.Craig (Ice Cube) and Day-Day (Mike Epps) are back in the old neighborhood and ready for Christmas. Although they’ve left behind the security of living with their parents, the rundown Shady Palms apartment they now share is filled with all the accoutrements and spirit of the holiday season. It’s a time for giving … until Craig wakes up in the middle of the night to discover a ghetto Santa Claus stealing their presents and anything else he can stuff into his sack, including the rent money jammed in their stereo speakers.

Faced with the harsh reality of a Christmas without presents and the unwanted advances of their landlady’s recently paroled son if the rent is not paid by midnight on Christmas Eve, Craig and Day-Day are forced to score some quick cash at the local strip mall where their fathers, Mr. Jones (John Witherspoon) and Uncle Elroy (Don “D.C.” Curry), have opened Bros. Bar-B-Q restaurant and landed them jobs as unarmed security guards.

While Craig handles the chaos of the Christmas Eve shopping crush at stores like Pimp N’ Ho’s clothing store -- particularly favoring sales associate Donna (K.D. Aubert) -- and Holy Moly’s Donut Shop, Day-Day’s renegade rent-a-cop tactics put the pair’s jobs and lives in jeopardy. As the clock ticks down on another unforgettable Friday, Craig and Day-Day learn some comic lessons about the true meaning of the holiday season.

4.  "Front-loaded with laugh-guaranteed nonstop jokes!" -Elvis Mitchell, The New York Times

Craig and Day-Day have finally gotten jobs as mall security guards and moved into their own crib. When a fake Santa robs their rundown apartment on Christmas Eve, they embark on a comical adventure in an effort to track down the bandit and retrieve their stolen loot.

Meanwhile, Day-Day's rent-a-cop tactics cause them to continually miss their chance to catch the Santa and instead has them squaring off against innocent caroling ladies, shady neighborhood kids and the police!

5.Craig and Day Day are back as they pursue a Santa Claus bandit who has stolen their Christmas gifts and this month's rent money.
