I recently rewatched Flowers of the Attic, and I once again wondered how a mother could have been so cruel? Then I looked back over my personal life and figured that one out. This movie is about greed, and murder. It has all the trimmings of being a classic, with one exception. The real problem with this movie is that character development is poor. If the director would have given a little more time to the development of things like say, the mother's motives, rather than focussing on the fact that the children were locked up, then it would have been a classic. As it it, however, it will perpetually be a B rated movie, with an A rated budget.
