Frances O'Connor in About Adam (2000)

FRANCES O'CONNOR, the compelling Australian actress who recently came to the fore as Fanny Price, the newly envisioned heroine of Patricia Rozema's daring adaptation of Jane Austen's "Mansfield Park."

A native of Perth, Frances O'Connor was introduced to international audiences in Emma Kate Croghan's comedy "Love and Other Catastrophes." She went on to star in Bill Bennett's neo-noir "Kiss or Kill" and appeared with Cate Blanchett in "Thank God He Met Lizzie" and with Geoffrey Rush in "A Little Bit of Soul." O'Connor has also made numerous appearances on Australian stage and television. She was most recently seen on PBS in the BBC miniseries "Madame Bovary," for which she received this year's Golden Globe nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television; and in Harold Ramis"'Bedazzled" with Brendan Fraser and Elixabeth Hurley.

Next up for O'Connor is John Woo's "Windtalkers" and Steven Spielberg's "A.I." which also stars Jude Law and Haley Joel Osment.
