Bruce Willis in Unbreakable (2000)

BRUCE WILLIS (David Dunn) has demonstrated incredible versatility and extraordinary talent in a career ranging from action blockbusters to romantic comedies, earning him international acclaim as a box office superstar. He has recently enjoyed tremendous success starring in last year’s critically acclaimed box office sensation "The Sixth Sense" which was Touchstone Pictures’ most successful film of the year. The film grossed a record-breaking $500 million-plus worldwide to become the 10th highest grossing film of all time, and earned Willis a People’s Choice Award as Best Actor for his role. In 1998, he starred in the blockbuster hit "Armageddon," which was also Touchstone Pictures’ most successful film of that year.

Willis was raised in a working-class family in New Jersey and attended Montclair State College because of its highly regarded theatre department. After numerous auditions, he landed a role in the play "Heaven and Earth" in 1977, which was incentive for him to quit school and move to New York to pursue an acting career.

Willis made his acting breakthrough in 1984 when he replaced the lead in Sam Shepherd’s off-Broadway play "Fool for Love." Later that year, he was selected from 3,000 contenders to star as David Addison in the hit television series "Moonlighting," for which he won an Emmy and Golden Globe Award. The popular series has enjoyed renewed success again this year with episodes being released on DVD and becoming a top-seller.

He began his feature film career starring opposite Kim Basinger in Blake Edwards’ comedy "Blind Date." He went on to star in "Die Hard," one of the highest-grossing films of 1988, which led to an internationally successful feature film series that includes "Die Hard 2: Die Harder" and "Die-Hard: With a Vengeance," in which he co-starred with Samuel L. Jackson. Willis also co-starred in Quentin Tarantino's highly acclaimed drama "Pulp Fiction," which was the 1994 Grand Prize winner of the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival. He was also seen in "Nobody's Fool," opposite Paul Newman, as well as starring in Terry Gilliam’s "12 Monkeys," Norman Jewison’s "In Country," Luc Besson’s "The Fifth Element," and as the wisecracking voice of baby Mikey in the highly successful "Look Who's Talking."

Last year, he starred with Michelle Pfeiffer in the family drama "The Story of Us" for director Rob Reiner and in "Breakfast of Champions," based on the novel by Kurt Vonnegut, for which he also served as producer. Most recently, he starred opposite Matthew Perry in the hit comedy "The Whole Nine Yards" and in "Disney’s The Kid," a live-action comedy directed by Jon Turteltaub.

Willis recently won a primetime Emmy Award for his guest starring role on the comedy series, "Friends."

He is scheduled to begin production in October on "Outlaws" for director Barry Levinson which will be released in 2001.
