Academy Award® winning actor CUBA GOODING, JR. (Ted Brooks) is one of the most charismatic and captivating performers on the screen today. His critically acclaimed, portrayal of flamboyant professional football player Rod Tidwell in the smash hit "Jerry Maguire" earned him an unprecedented number of awards and honors including the Screen Actors Guild Award, the Chicago Film Critics Award, the Broadcasters Film Critics Award, the Blockbuster Entertainment Award, the Black Oscars Award, the American Comedy Award, and the Academy Award®, all for Best Supporting Actor. In addition, Gooding was nominated for a Golden Globe and received the ShoWest Award as well as the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actor.
Gooding made his motion picture debut as the star of John Singleton’s 1991 searing coming-of-age drama, "Boyz N the Hood." A year later, he was featured in the Oscar®-nominated film "A Few Good Men."
In 1992 Gooding was honored as the NATO/ShoWest Newcomer of the Year for his performance in "A Few Good Men." He also earned rave reviews and a NAACP Image Award nomination for his portrayal of a 17-year-old high school student in "Boyz N the Hood."
Most recently, Gooding starred in "Pearl Harbor" for producer Jerry Bruckheimer and producer director Michael Bay, "Rat Race," and made a cameo appearance in "Zoolander." He has also starred opposite Robert De Niro in the hit film "Men of Honor," the true story of Carl Brashear, the Navy’s first African-American deep sea salvage master diver, directed by George Tillman; "As Good As It Gets"; "What Dreams May Come"; and "Instinct."
His other screen credits include "Chill Factor," "Judgment Night," "Lightning Jack," "Losing Isaiah," and "Outbreak." In 2003, Gooding will voice a role in Walt Disney Pictures’ animated feature, "Sweating Bullets."
