GREG KINNEAR (Professor Edward Alcott) was recently seen in Nora Ephron’s hit romantic comedy You’ve Got Mail, opposite Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan, and as Captain Amazing in Mystery Men. His credits include Mike Nichols’ comedy What Planet Are You From, opposite Garry Shandling, Annette Bening and John Goodman, and director Neil Labute’s black comedy Nurse Betty, opposite Renee Zellweger, Morgan Freeman and Chris Rock.
Kinnear received an Oscar® nomination for his performance in James Brook’s As Good As It Gets, with Jack Nicholson and Helen Hunt. His earnest portrayal as Nicholson’s unfortunate neighbor, Simon, not only garnered him critical raves, but also resulted in his being named Best Supporting Actor by the National Board of Review and receiving Best Supporting Actor nominations from the Golden Globes and the Screen Actors Guild.
He made his feature film debut in the Sydney Pollack directed remake Sabrina opposite Harrison Ford and Julia Ormand, for which he was named NATO ShoWest’s “Star of Tomorrow.”
Kinnear first gained prominence as the animated, wisecracking host of E! Entertainment’s Emmy Award-winning “Talk Soup,” where he was the master of not one but all talk shows, providing commentary on clips from such programs as “Sally Jesse Raphael,” “Jerry Springer” and “Montel,” winning rave reviews and a large cult following. He later went on to host and executive produce his own late night talk show, “Later With Greg Kinnear.”
