The Blair Witch Project Reviews |
The Blair Witch Project's use of the "less is more" philosophy of cinema is staggeringly successful here, for this would have been a ridiculously hammy movie if the terror-in-the-woods was uncovered for all to see. The film allows the viewers to imagine their own terror, which is undoubtedly a more terrifying one than could ever be put onto celluloid. [read review] --Cortney Fusco (Diabolical-Dominion.com)
Still while you're watching this you may have a lot of indifferent feelings towards it, be it because of its lack of a steady plot or when certain events don't ring 'true', but it's still a darkly spooky tale that doesn't need elaborate effects or non-stop action to work. In closing, I've simply got to say what a fine film this is - both in plot and cinematic merit. The film works as a horrifying tale of the unknown, but also shows us that it doesn't take millions to make a truly scary film. It's already gone down in culthistory, but I hope that 'The Blair Witch Project' continues its fame well into the next century - scaring generations of viewers for years to come. A must see for any film lover, not to mention fans of horror flicks, "Blair Witch" shares a lot with "Night of the Living Dead." Like George Romero's timeless classic, "Blair" is raw, ground-breaking and terrifying. [read review] -- (eSplatter.com)
I was, however, completely engrossed. Even though I knew things were going to end badly (we're told that from the beginning), the film kept me wondering what was going to happen next. ... It fucked me up. [read review] 83/100 --Jack Witzig (ColdSpot)
Overall the movie for me rocked. I love these sort of unexplainable movies and this one hit right were i love it, the whole movie is dark and creepy. Tones of suspense and emotion. [read review] -- (terrorwatch.net)
The hype killed it for me but enough people saw it for it to make a ridiculous profit. I wouldn't recommend it unless you just want to laugh but there are better movies for that. [read review] --Mr. Wicked (Bloody-Disgusting.com)
