Plot: Black Christmas is a stark and stylish thriller that turns everyone''''s favourite time of the year inside out. Olivia Hussey and Margot Kidder star among an ill-fated houseful of sorority sisters celebrating the holiday season. Festivities turn fatal when obscene phone calls break the serenity and it becomes clear that psychopath is stalking the house.

The few remaining residents of a Canadian sorority house are celebrating the onset of Christmas vacation when a thirteen year-old girl is found dead in the park. Soon, it is discovered that one of the sorority sisters is missing, which triggers a terrifying chain of murders within the house. Director Bob Clark's (PORKY'S, A CHRISTMAS STORY) tense, effective film is a precursor to the slasher films that would come a half decade later, but never relies on gore. Olivia Hussy (ROMEO AND JULIET) stars alongside Margot Kidder and SCTV's Andrea

external linkArguably the best in the game, Black Christmas is nevertheless an awesome movie that deserves every bit of recognition it has earned. With great atmosphere, cool ideas, and the most manic killer I've ever seen, it's sure to leave you on the edge of your seat.

external linkAverage slasher entry has some strange plotting and moves somewhat slow making it minimally enjoyable. However you have to give it an 'A' for effort. ... A must for slasher fans just because it helped create such genre standards as looking through the killer's eyes. 2/4

external linkThere are two things that make Black Christmas different from any number of eighties slasher films: 1) it invented the style they used, and 2) it's smarter than most of them. 62/100
--Jack Witzig (ColdSpot)

external link...very creepy, atmospheric and unjustly forgotten film, easily one of the best slasher movies of all time. By today's standards, the story may be a little slow. ... But all in all, this is an absolute must see and undeniably the finest Christmas fear film ever made -- way better than any of the "Silent Night Deadly Night" filmes.

external link“Black Christmas” is a terrifying film on many levels. One is that you never see the killer – only one of his eyes, and THAT is scary enough. Two, you never know why he is killing – it just starts and seemingly ends... 4/5

external linkSimply terrific movie, which doesn't feel as 70's as you might think it will feel like. This is one of my personal favourites but since it doesn't have much suspense or intense scenes, I can't bring myself to giving this five stars. 4/5
