 Synopses for Crutch (2004)
1.A Student, His Teacher, Crossing Boundaries. Behind a facade of suburban middle class perfection, a compelling tale of love, loss, lies and lust unfolds...Sixteen-year old David's (Eben Gordon) home life is falling apart. As he tries to cope with his impossible situation, the troubled, impressionable teenager falls under the spell of Kenny (Rob Moretti), a gorgeous, thirty-something, has-been actor turned theatre coach. And when Kenny's "support" escalates into seduction, David slowly descends into an abyss of drinking and drug addiction from which he must escape if he is to survive. Based on a true story, Crutch is a captivating, powerful look at exorcising private demons and exposing dark secrets.

2.Set in the suburban middle-class world outside New York City, David's life is seemingly normal. But behind manicured doors lies a dilemma that will tear the family apart.

When Jack, David's estranged father, leaves his alcoholic wife Katie, of seventeen years, David is forced to become the parent of his siblings. With a doting girlfriend to contend with and an alcoholic mother to care for, David is overwhelmed. He is thrust into premature adulthood, and turns, inevitably, to the only security he knows.

Kenny, a thirty-something has-been actor turned theatre coach, quickly becomes obsessed with David. Struggling with his volatile emotions, Kenny weakens and crosses this taboo boundary. David, vulnerable and confused about his own coming of age, succumbs to Kenny's attractive power and influence, leading him to a life of drinking and drugs.

Crutch is a captivating and brutally honest look into love, loss, lies and our own dark secrets. The film takes risks and that's where its success lies. -- © Illuminare Entertainment
