As Ashley, the Iowa girl in the big city, BRITTANY MURPHY plays the part of a young woman just figuring out how to ask for what she wants. She will next be seen in Penny Marshall's Riding in Cars With Boys opposite Drew Barrymore, Don't Say a Word opposite Michael Douglas and Summer Catch with Freddie Prinze Jr. She is currently shooting the ensemble film Spun directed by Jonas Akerlund.
Murphy recently starred alongside Winona Ryder and Angelina Jolie in Girl, Interrupted and in Alan Rudolph's Trixie opposite Emily Watson. She gained national attention for her breakthrough role as "Tai" in Clueless.
On television, her voice can be heard each week on the animated comedy King of the Hill. She starred opposite Lukas Haas and Sidney Poitier in David and Lisa and opposite Kirsten Dunst in Devil's Arithmetic.
