Not quite as strangely entertaining as the sequels, but still worth noting because it did start the series after all. ... Low-budget and it shows, but alright anyway with a fair share of bloodletting (including the cool 'needles in drawer' scene). -- (TheVideoGraveYard.com)
The film features stop-motion animation, unintentional laughs, bad acting, plenty of gore and creative death scenes. In short, it's a near masterpiece.-- (eSplatter.com)
Good cult-classic horror film. Lot of weird stuff going on. Cheap ass graphics that are fun to laugh it. Check this film out. 6/10--FrighT MasteR (UHM)

has a really cool story and the movie is filled with hilarious stuff and has so much twisted humour in it. It's actually more of a comedy then an actual horror movie, although it has a fair share of gore in it. 9/10-- (evildread.com)
