CHRISTOPHER GUEST (Director) made his motion picture directing debut in 1989 with The Big Picture, a comedy about Hollywood, starring Kevin Bacon and Jennifer Jason Leigh. He also co-wrote the film with Michael McKean. Subsequently, Guest directed the HBO film Attack Of The 50 Ft Woman, starring Daryl Hannah, Waiting For Guffman and Almost Heroes, starring Chris Farley and Matthew Perry. A native of New York, Guest studied at Bard College and the NYU School of the Arts. He began his professional acting career in theatre, appearing in productions at New Haven's Long Wharf Theatre. Off-Broadway roles include such productions as Little Murders and National Lampoon's Lemmings, which also garnered him an Obie nomination for best musical score. On Broadway he appeared in Moonchildren and Room Service. After making his motion picture acting debut in The Hot Rock, Guest went on to appear in numerous feature films. In addition to starring in Waiting For Guffman as the flamboyant Off-Off Broadway director Corky St. Clair, Guest also created such memorable characters as lead guitarist Nigel Tufnel in This Is Spinal Tap, and the infamous six-fingered Count Rugen in The Princess Bride. Some of his other feature credits include A Few Good Men, Little Shop Of Horrors and The Long Riders. Guest also appeared as a regular on NBC's Saturday Night Live during the 1984/1985 season. Working as a writer since 1970, Guest helped create 59 shows for the National Lampoon Radio Hour. He also wrote widely for television, collaborating with Rob Reiner on The TV Show, writing such shows as The Chevy Chase Special and winning an Emmy® Award for his work on The Lily Tomlin Show.
