Plot: Trapped in time. Surrounded by evil. Low on gas. Bound in human flesh, inked in blood, and amazingly hard to pronounce, the ancient Necronomican, or Book of the Dead, unleashes unspeakable evil upon mankind in director Sam Raimi's outrageously hilarious sword-and-sorcery epic. Back to do battle with the hideous "Deadites", Bruce Campbell reprises his role from The Evil Dead series as Ash, the handsome, shotgun-toting, chainsaw-armed department store clerk from S-Mart's housewares division. Demonic forces time-warp him - and his '73 Oldsmobile - into England's Dark Ages, where he romances a beauty (Embeth Davidtz) and faces legions of un-dead beasts, including a ghastly army of skeletons. Can Ash save the living from the evil dead, rescue his girlfriend, and get back to his own time? Overflowing with spectacular special effects, Army of Darkness will make you scream with fear and laughter. Through a magic spell, Ash, a modern-day discount-store employee, finds himself back in the middle ages. Given the key to return home by an alchemist, he bungles the incantation and, instead, releases the forces of darkness. Now Ash has one job to do before transporting to the future: defeat the army of the evil dead... if they don't defeat him

If you're a fan of the genre and missed out on this tame little film, rent the whole 'Evil Dead' trilogy, sit down, and immerse yourself. You're gonna be in for one hell of a ride...--Ted Geoghegan (Diabolical-Dominion.com)
Still, the action scenes outweigh the fluff, and I have a special place in my heart for that character with a chainsaw-hand that appeared in my comic book so very long ago.--Cortney Fusco (Diabolical-Dominion.com)
Director/co-writer Sam Raimi and his star (who's a longtime college friend) enjoy themselves fully with this sequel (which sadly sunk at the box-office) as they've made this more of an adventure movie than horror and toned down on the gore while they're at it. That's not to say it's not enjoyable, because I'd be lying if I said it wasn't. -- (TheVideoGraveYard.com)
Goddamn groovy indeed. Army of Darkness caps off the only film series in my memory that not only explores new area with each film but keeps a stellar and unique quality. 90/100--Jack Witzig (ColdSpot)
Not a horror masterpiece by any means, but a great slapstick adventure film. Many people who saw it didn't even know it was a sequel to two of the sickest horror films ever made.-- (eSplatter.com)
This movie is the most slapstick horror movie ever. Unfortenitly that is one of it's flaws. --Zaero (Bloody-Disgusting.com)
I don't think AOD is a bad movie it's very entertaining and just plain fun to watch, but i feel cheated so how for buying this version of the movie which differs in almost in no way from the cut version. --Savoy (Bloody-Disgusting.com)
