Vincent Price and company are in high camp mode for this one--it has plenty of eye candy, a good amount of humor, and several appropriately gruesome death scenes. 88/100--Jack Witzig (ColdSpot)
Director Fuest brings an enormous sense of art-deco style and grand guingol humor to the affair, and this film truly set the stage for what many consider Price's finest work -- including Price himself -- "Theater of Blood," a movie clearly inspired by "Phibes," but which actually succeeds in outdoing it.-- (eSplatter.com)
"The Abominable Dr. Phibes" is one of those curious oddities from the early seventies that, on paper, doesn't sound like it could possibly offer much to get exited about: just another cheap horror flick...In fact, however unlikely it's provenance, the film stands as one of the most enjoyable and original horror/comedies of the seventies. -- (horrorview.com)
