STEPHEN HEREK (Director) made his directorial debut with the immensely popular sci-fi comedy, "Critters," which he also co-wrote. The success of that film, which spawned two sequels, brought Herek to the attention of the producers of the teen comedy "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure," one of the surprise box office hits of the '80s. From there, Herek went on to direct the comedy "Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead," and the Disney franchise-making 1992 comedy "The Mighty Ducks."
Continuing his association with Walt Disney Studios, Herek directed the subsequent hit features "Mr. Holland's Opus," starring Richard Dreyfuss, and the live-action version of "101 Dalmatians." For producer Roger Birnbaum, he directed a re-make of the venerable action classic "The Three Musketeers," starring Charlie Sheen, Kiefer Sutherland and Oliver Platt. Most recently, Herek directed and produced "Holy Man," starring Eddie Murphy and Jeff Goldblum.
A graduate of the University of Texas' film school, Herek moved to Los Angeles to join the editing department of Roger Corman Productions, before making his break into directing.
