Friedlander Helms Tom Wolfe's "Simmons"

U2 & R.E.M. music video director Liz Friedlander is attached to helm a film version of the Tom Wolfe novel "I Am Charlotte Simmons" for Essential Entertainment reports Dark Horizons.
John Watson ("Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves") is adapting the contemporary study of an innocent country girl navigating her way through freshman year at the fictional Dupont University. She undergoes her first substantial disillusionment and betrayal after she lands in an unforgiving world.
This is the second novel that Wolfe has optioned for the screen. His first, 1987's Tom Hanks and Bruce Willis comedy/drama "The Bonfire of the Vanities," proved a critical and box-office disaster.
