Plot: Harry Sanborn (Jack Nicholson) is a perennial playboy with a libido much younger than his years. During what was to have been a romantic weekend with his latest infatuation, Marin (Amanda Peet), at her mother's Hamptons beach house, Harry develops chest pains. He winds up being nursed by Marin's reluctant mother, Erica Barry (Diane Keaton) -- a successful, divorced New York playwright. In the process, Harry develops more heart pangs -- the romantic kind -- for Erica, an age appropriate woman whom he finds beguiling.

However, some habits die hard. When Harry hesitates, his charming thirty-something doctor (Keanu Reeves) steps in and starts to pursue Erica. And Harry, who has always had the world on a string, finds his life

 External Reviews
external linkSomething's Gotta Give may not be as good as it gets, but it's an intelligent, funny look at relationships with mostly sparkling dialogue and a great performance from Diane Keaton. 3/4

external linkWhy must every character in American films who revels in sexual pleasure realize he's been leading an empty life? Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton do their best, but can't redeem this irritatingly moralistic romantic comedy.
--Charles Taylor (Salon)

external linkBoycott male-fantasy movies! Women, drop the double standard! Hey, who'd choose Jack over Keanu anyway? Readers take issue -- several issues -- with Charles Taylor's review of "Something's Gotta Give."
--Christopher Farah (Salon)

external linkDiane Keaton gives a wonderful and satisfying performance in "Something's Gotta Give." So does Jack Nicholson. But onscreen together, the two titans share little chemistry between them, resulting in a film that doesn’t have the romantic sparks it desiresor the laughs it deserves. C
--Brian Orndorf (FilmJerk.com)

external linkJack Nicholson is acting his age again in the romantic comedy "Something's Gotta Give." But this time, he's doing it as Jack.
--Ron Weiskind (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette)

external linkThis IS baby food, harmless mainstream bourgeois entertainment, but the actors are clearly having a good time and it’s contagious. Chances are you’ll have forgotten it by the time you leave the theater, but while it lasts “Something’s Gotta Give” is a pleasant night at the movies. 3/4

external linkNicholson the actor gives one of his most unguarded performances in "Something's Gotta Give,'' an intelligent romantic comedy from writer-director Nancy Meyers.
--Mick LaSalle (San Francisco Chronicle)

external linkSharp, witty, and deep-down funny, "Something's Gotta Give" is one of the best adult romantic comedies of the year -- or the last few years, for that matter.
