Ewan McGregor was cast as the young Edward Bloom after the film's producers noticed his similarity to pictures of the young Albert Finney (who plays the older Bloom).
The Banjo player in the film is Billy Redden who was the young boy playing the banjo in Deliverance.
The vault door in the bank robbery scene is the door to the vault which stored the bat suit in Tim Burton's 1989 Batman.
