It should have been shown the traditional way in Japanese with English subtitles so you really knew what was going on. And hun, it's CALUCIFER, not Calcifer. If you buy it on dvd watch it in Japanese, you'll understand the plot line a while lot better. | | 41 months ago | Tuesday Jun 21, 2005, 11:27 AM |

I'm all for the Japanese w/English subtitles and they may have "butchered" the script but you need to get your facts straight. Howl's Moving Castle is a 1986 British novel written by Diana Wynne Jones. That means it is in English. Miyazaki personally went to where she lives to get the movie rights. If anything Miyazaki butchered the book. The whole part where Sophie goes back in time never happens. The door that leads to the war actually leads to Howl's home in Whales. Miyazaki even left out at least 5 characters. Now I still thought it was the best thing ever made, I'm utterly obssesed w/it, and I will buy the dvd and I will watch it in Japanese. Then I will complain how it is CALCIFER, not Calucifer. Just so you know. Keep on rocking HowlSophie. | | 41 months ago | Thursday Jun 30, 2005, 8:57 AM |

If the name is spelled differently in the book, by all means correct me, but since we aren't talking about the book leave any notations about it OUT of the coverstation. My facts are straight pertaining to the movie. It was butchered. It should be rereleased with better voice actors and the scripting should be fixed. And I love that you tried to stick up for the kid, but you realize by the time you posted, she'd probably forgotten the movie ever existed. Then again, by the way you reacted to a post not directed at you, and with irrelevant information, you must be a child as well. Enjoy life kiddies. I'm sure the fog in your eyes makes everything pretty before it slaps you. | | 32 months ago | Monday Mar 27, 2006, 1:48 PM | |
