Plot: Crispin Glover and Corey Feldman star in this, the fourth movie in the venerable FRIDAY THE 13TH series. Though most had written off the series by this installment, in retrospect this looks like it was the best of the series. First, Mr. Glover injects some much needed personality into the film as Jimmy, one of the many doomed teenagers at Camp Crystal Lake, and he seems to somehow make the other teens a little more entertaining, including Corey Feldman's Tommy, ostensibly the hero of the picture. Second, and perhaps most importantly, the gore effects her are done by the legendary Tom Savini (DAWN OF THE DEAD), who adds a level of inventiveness to the endless killings that the series hadn't yet experienced.  Probably the best thing about The Final Chapter is that it keeps in mind that the film's target audience just wants to have fun - and this movie does not make any attempts at taking itself seriously. ...even though it isn't incredibly obvious that humor is the intent, as it very well might not be, the viewer has to keep in mind that this is all for fun.--Cortney Fusco (Diabolical-Dominion.com)
Pretty routine stuff but there is a cool hacksaw death, a harpoon gun in the genitals that's pretty rockin' and always weird Crispin Glover not only doing an unintentionally hilarious dance scene but getting knocked-off real good by Jason.  -- (TheVideoGraveYard.com)
Oh, boy. Talk about a grind. Here we go again, with the group of generic "teenagers" in a generic partying situation who are killed in a bunch of generic ways. ... This one actually does try to get us to know the characters, but they all suck, so it's tono avail. 19/100--Jack Witzig (ColdSpot)
