Cabin Fever Reviews |
This is very entertaining but the black humour mixed in here just didn't do it for me. I'd rather have a solid horrormovie than an average horrormovie with a ending that makes absolutely no sense at all. I think it's amazing that this movie actually got a theatrical release as I consider this to be DTV material. I still recommend it since it is entertaining though but don't expect anything special. ...the premise is definitely an alright one it's just that they've concentrated more on smirky humour and junky 'hip' dialogue than actual horror or plot making this almost a parody of itself as it piles on annoying jokes and failed attempts at humour without bothering even making an effort at suspense or tension. Cabin Fever is a movie about how you drop your guard and show your true colors in the face of trauma
or at least that's what they want you to think. It really is proof of why September is one of the worst movie months of the year, because this month houses badly-made movies like this one. [read review] --Brian Gallagher (MovieWeb)
What I got from Cabin Fever, although completely different than what I expected going in, is just as satisfying, if not more so. It's a bloody, goosebump inducing rollercoaster ride of a movie and a new personal favorite of mine. If Roth is the future ofhorror, count me among the true believers. Cabin Fever is most effective when attending to its inevitable victims, and its misguided effort to break away from the isolation of the cabin results in the unfortunate loss of a palpable claustrophobia. [read review] --Christopher Monfette (MovieWeb)
A good watch for something original and out there, but expect a lot of weirdness and comedy. Don't go in seeing the flick expecting a lot, because that's why I didn't like it as much as I wanted. [read review] 6/10 --FrighT MasteR (UHM)
So Cabin Fever didn't work for me on a moral level. So what. It's atmospheric, and it revisits genre classics without making us feel like it's ripping them off. And it's definitely gross. [read review] 66/100 --Jack Witzig (ColdSpot)
Gore-splattered, quirky horror comedy that owes a huge debt to The Evil Dead – occasionally effective and has its moments but is a little too in love with itself to really succeed. [read review] --Matthew Turner (ViewLondon)
"Cabin Fever" exudes the same kind of fear and paranoia we remembered from 1970s horror films, and pays tribute to the classics every chance it gets. [read review] -- (eSplatter.com)
What begins as a standard, cheesy horror flick slowly spirals into a surreal train wreck of the absurd...I liked Cabin Fever, and I'm not sure why. [read review] --Dave Brennan (MovieWeb)
A seamless pastiche of 1970s and early 1980s horror, resulting in a blend of mean-spiritedness, gore and comedy that is truly infectious. [read review] 8/10 --Anton Bitel (Movie Gazette)
Someday I’ll be lying on my death bed and I’ll wish that I had not wasted time watching Cabin Fever. You’ll never get that time back. [read review] 2/10 --Rob Rekker (thefilmasylum.com)
It's refreshing to see, at long last, a horror film that mixes so well gore, paranoia, and such a great sense of humor. [read review] --'Ciro' (MovieWeb)
...the film's main problem is that it can't decide whether it's straight horror, camp pastiche, or a gross-out comedy. [read review] --Jamie Russell (BBC Films)
Cabin Fever is a veritable high-school reunion for the best and most important horror films of the past 30 years [read review] --Lyle Henretty (Bloody-Disgusting.com)
We finally have a teen horror film that is actually creepy, enjoyable, and even (intentionally) funny [read review] B- --Lee Tistaert (Lee's Movie Info)
