DEREK LUKE (Curtis) received critical acclaim and garnered the National Board of Review award for Best Male Breakout Performance and an Independent Spirit award for his portrayal of the title role in Denzel Washington’s Antwone Fisher. During the casting process for the film, Luke’s determination and perseverance paid off when he caught the attention of first-time director, Denzel Washington, among hundreds of other young hopefuls.
Luke followed this success with Biker Boyz, opposite Laurence Fishburne. Luke can currently be seen opposite Katie Holmes in Pieces of April which made its debut at the 2003 Sundance Film Festival.
Luke is currently in production on the drama Friday Night Lights co-starring with Billy Bob Thorton and Jay Hernandez.
