American Nightmare Reviews |
Yes, "American Nightmare" is flawed but it obviously comes from the heart and that shines through on screen. I felt involved the whole way, appreciated the film’s gusto, its somber atmosphere and Debbie Rochon’s outstanding performance. This is a worthy addition to the slasher genre and I for one am looking forward to "American Nightmare 2". This one leaves its door wide open for a sequel…expect it. [read review] -- (Arrow)
"American Nightmare" starts out with one of the most memorable scenes in indie horror history. From the moment the film began, I was awestruck with the amazing picture quality and cinematography... but it was the compelling story and savage brutality of the characters that truly dragged your old buddy Ted into the storyline. American Nightmare is a mixed bag- the acting is good and from some actors, even great, the movie looks high budget even though it was shot with a very tight one and it does have some cool and memorable scenes. But in the end this flick is just way too slow and way too unoriginal to stay interesting. [read review] --AnthroFred (SlasherPool)
Like a lot of modern horror movies this knowingly "winks" at other films in the genre, but it's not gratingly done and it's always nice to see Brinke Stevens in a movie (even if she's given almost no screen time). [read review] -- (TheVideoGraveYard.com)
Worth a rent if you like slasher movies. Drags on a little in the beginning but it picks up once the killings start. Interesting deaths and an interesting killer. Check this. [read review] 6/10 --FrighT MasteR (UHM)
