Jimmy Neutron, the feature that launches Nickelodeon's attempt to create a new children's franchise, plays like a cross between Rugrats and Dexter's Laboratory in outer space. Accompanied by his cyberdog Goddard, "boy genius" James Isaac Neutron (voiced by Debi Derryberry) invents fantastic devices that work only sporadically and with decidedly mixed results. The communications satellite he makes out of his mother's toaster allows for a race of gooey, egg-shaped aliens to kidnap the adults in Jimmy's town with the intent of sacrificing the parents to their chicken-god. Converting amusement park rides into spaceships, Jimmy saves the day, despite a few false starts and misadventures. Several of the characters feel like slightly older versions of Rugrats: smart-alecky Cindy (Carolyn Lawrence) resembles Angelica; sniffling nerd Carl (Rob Paulsen), Chuckie. The most original member of the cast is Sheen (Jeff Garcia), the maladroit devotee of superhero Ultralord--a very funny spoof of cartoon fandom. The characters look more like plastic toys than human beings. Instead of the thousands of individual hairs on the heads of the realistic figures in Final Fantasy, Jimmy sports a one-piece hairdo that recalls a soft-serve ice cream cone. The animation is weightless and the acting minimal, but the often quirky story carries the limited visuals and will appeal to elementary school kids. Life in the small town of Retroville isn't exactly, well, lively. That's why Jimmy and his friends are anxiously awaiting the opening night of the new Retroland Amusement Park. But when Jimmy's parents forbid him to go, he sneaks out and meets his friends anyway.
While having the time of his life, Jimmy secretly wishes that his parents would vanish, and lo and behold, they do! Yes, while Jimmy and his pals are riding roller coasters and stuffing themselves with cotton candy, not just Jimmy's parents, but all the parents in Retroville are abducted by the dreaded "Yokians," gross, green, gooey, egg-shaped aliens with wickedly warped senses of humor.
Initially absorbed with celebrating the absence of parental control, Jimmy and his friends have a blast. But soon they discover that they have no one to turn to when things go wrong, and they not only need their parents, but they actually want them back!
Putting his highly-developed brain to the task, Jimmy goes to his lab and discovers the whereabouts of the missing adults. Then he and his buddies — including his trusty robotic dog Goddard, his best friend Carl Wheezer, and his nemesis Cindy Vortex - arm themselves with Jimmy's coolest inventions and soar off to the stars in his homemade spacecrafts. Will they win their battle against the yucky Yokians? Will they save their parents from this odd egg-shaped band of aliens? Well, one thing's for sure — Jimmy Neutron and his friends are in for the adventure of their lives!

Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, is trying to make contact with an alien civilization. Unbeknownst to him, a satellite he launches (okay, it's the kitchen toaster, but it works!) is picked up by an alien species. In the dark of night the aliens fly their war ships-looking like a fleet of rubber chickens to earth and abduct all the parents in Jimmy's hometown of Retroville. So it's up to Jimmy to create a fleet of space ships from the rides at the town's new amusement park (hey, he's a genius, remember?) and launch them into orbit in a bid to rescue the abducted parents of Retroville. But Jimmy better hurry! Because the aliens are preparing to use the parents as human sacrifices! With his robotic dog, Goddard, and his best friend, Carl by his side, Jimmy and the rest of the kids in Retroville take to the skies on a trip that's sure to be a blast! Featuring the voice talents of Patrick Stewart and Martin Short as the evil King Gobat and his sidekick Ooblar.

JIMMY NEUTRON: BOY GENIUS is a funny, silly, and colorfully animated children's film featuring Jimmy Neutron, the amazing wunderkind whose penchant for invention leads him to amazing adventures. Jimmy has created all kinds of gadgets to make his life easier, including a robotic dog, Goddard, who follows him everywhere. Jimmy's dimwitted father is awed by the boy's abilities, but his no-nonsense mom just wants Jimmy to stay out of trouble. Jimmy and his friend, Carl, use a homemade spaceship to launch a satellite. The spaceship crashes, and things go downhill from there. Jimmy's satellite inadvertently beams a video of him with his parents to the planet Yolkus, and the egg-shaped aliens there decide that Jimmy's parents look good enough to eat. Soon, every parent in Retroland has been abducted, and Jimmy has to build a whole fleet of spaceships for his friends so they can rescue their folks. The film's animation is slick and the pace is lively. Especially funny are Patrick Stewart playing the Yolkian King Goobot, and Martin Short playing his right-hand egg, Ooblar. The soundtrack includes songs by Aaron Carter and Britney Spears. Kids, as well as parents, will really enjoy JIMMY NEUTRON's fun-filled, far-out ride.
