Slackers (2002)

SLACKERS takes a comically skewed look at life during a unique period - college. It's a time when young people often discover the best things in life for the first time - relationships, independence, intellectual growth, and beer and sex. It is a moment when anything goes, and for the gang at Holden University, that's an understatement.

But there's also a healthy dose of romance to this offbeat comedy.

The story took on an added dimension once filming started, as everyone from the director to the best boy had a college tale to tell. Some were funny, some sappy, others just outrageous. "We all have a story from our youth, or an incredible line or comeback that we said, or at least wanted to say, that found its way into the script," said Feig. "There's a little bit of all of us in these characters," he added.

The cast features six brightly rising stars from the worlds of film and television who are strong comedic performers with a great talent for improvisation.

DEVON SAWA ,who starred in FINAL DESTINATION and has also appeared in IDLE HANDS, THE GUILTY and A COOL, DRY PLACE plays Dave. Charming and smooth, Dave has no plans for his future other than using his gift of gab to plant the "seed of doubt" in anyone's head and get his own way. JASON SEGEL, who portrayed "Nick" on TV's popular FREAKS & GEEKS, is the deadpan Sam, who works hard at being lazy. MICHAEL C. MARONNA, who achieved cult status as the irregularly shaved redhead in the Ameritrade commercials, plays Jeff, whose "invisible hand" will exploit any opportunity.

JASON SCHWARTZMAN who made an impressive film debut performance in Wes Anderson's RUSHMORE is Ethan, a junior stalker-in-training, who will go to any and all lengths to get the object of his obsession, brainy babe Angela played by JAMES KING, who recently completed the supporting lead role in Jerry Bruckheimer's film PEARL HARBOR. King also appeared with Johnny Depp in the motion picture BLOW and plays a camp counselor in the upcoming teen comedy HAPPY CAMPERS.

LAURA PREPON of the FOX hit sitcom THAT 70'S SHOW stars as Angela's roommate, Reanna, a sex-driven, Cosmo-reading, loud-mouthed hottie.
