Say It Isn't So is touted as being from the Farelly brothers, who wrote and directed the movies Dumb and Dumber, Kingpin, and There's Something About Mary. And though they didn't write or direct this movie, it certainly has the same elements: charming lead actors (in this case, Heather Graham from Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me and Chris Klein from Election and American Pie) put through all sorts of comic grotesqueries, ranging from having an ear cut off to getting a hand stuck up a cow's rectum. Orphaned dogcatcher Gilly (Klein) and incompetent hairdresser Jo (Graham) fall in love, only to discover that Gilly's long-lost mother is Jo's own white trash momma (played with gusto by Sally Field). Unfortunately, they'd already slept together, so Jo flees in shame to go back to her ex-boyfriend in Beaver, Oregon. But when Jo's real brother shows up, Gilly sets out to win Jo back--only her mom wants her to marry the ex and tells the Beaver police that Gilly is a sexual predator. Say It Isn't So doesn't have the crude wit of There's Something About Mary, but there are several laugh-out-loud moments, and both Graham and Klein are sweet and engaging. Orlando Jones has a zestful turn as a legless seaplane pilot. --Bret Fetzer

Boy meets girl. Boy loves girl. Boy discovers she may be his sister. (Boy, this could be trouble.) To make matters worse, by the time he discovers "it isn't so", he has precious little time to stop the woman of his dreams from marrying another man. It's shameless romantic comedy at its finest from the twisted minds behind There's Something About Mary and Me, Myself & Irene!

With SAY IT ISN'T SO, the Farrelly Brothers (THERE'S SOMETHING ABOUT MARY, DUMB AND DUMBER) give their former First Assistant Director J. B. Rogers a shot at the big time. The result is another crude comedy that finds laughs in a series of outrageous situations. Working from a script by first-timers Peter Gaulke and Gerry Swallow, the film tells the confused story of orphan Gilly Noble (Chris Klein), who is employed at an animal shelter in Shelbyville, Indiana. When he lands in the barber's chair of the beautiful Jo Wingfield (Heather Graham), he's convinced he's found the woman of his dreams. A passionate, steamy romance develops, but when Gilly finds out that he and Jo are actually offspring from the same parents, Valdine (Sally Field) and Walter Wingfield (Richard Jenkins), he becomes a social outcast. Jo flees to Beaver, Oregon, to reunite with her former fiancé, the wealthy but conniving Jack Mitchelson (Eddie Cibrian), but when Gilly learns that he isn't Jo's sister after all, he must track her down to win back her affections. Unfortunately, Valdine wants Jack's money, so she will do whatever it takes to keep the truth from coming out. Featuring likeable performances by both Klein and Graham, Rogers's debut is a raucous comedy with a solid supporting cast.

Gilly Noble (Chris Klein) is an animal shelter employee in rural Indiana who hires a private detective to find his birth mother. The noble Gilly is also on the lookout for that one special girl with whom he might share the rest of his life.
Gilly meets and falls in love with a charming, beautiful — and klutzy — hairdresser, Jo Wingfield (Heather Graham). After Jo relocates to Oregon, the lovesick Gilly learns that Jo really isn't so, and he frantically pursues his one true amour. Along his journey, he gets help from double amputee Dig McCaffey, a pilot with a leg up on the comic action. But complicating matters for Gilly is Valdine, who conceals a secret from her daughter to insure that Jo's planned wedding to a millionaire Jack Mitchelson goes off without a hitch.
