Children of the Corn IV: The Gathering (1996)

One day the youngsters of a dusty Midwest village become feverish and incoherent. Apparently, the root of this pervasive illness is an enigmatic force originating from the local corn fields. A precocious would-be doctor tends to the kids, but he cannot locate the source of their misery.

This collegian better work faster, because an iniquitous figure will soon have the children under his guidance and force them to do his wicked bidding...

Director/co-writer Spence shows decent visual style but has to contend with a dopey plot and dull pace. ... A bit of a let-down after the entertaining third part this is an instantly forgettable and pretty tedious sequel. 

Aside from a nice opening shot of a corn kid staring blankly into the screen and a pretty freaky "Exorcist"-style possession scene involving some hospitalized kids, there's little worthwhile in this movie -- although it does feature Naomi Watts in an early role.
