Tagline: Buy a bag, go home in a box.
Plot: Maggie (Jill Schoelen) has been suffering recently from terrifying and realistic dreams. When film students hold a "horror-thon" to raise money for their department, they discover a film from the 1960s called THE POSSESSOR which mirrors the events in Maggie's nightmares. The director of THE POSSESSOR was a maniac and a mass-murderer who killed his wife before an audience and then burned them all alive. Now the students themselves are the victims of a real psychotic killer whose crimes are inspired by the gruesome horror movie.

You're regular slasher flick. The plot could have been a lot better. Was fun to watch though and that's why I would recommend this film to anyone who enjoys a decent slasher film. 6/10--FrighT MasteR (UHM)
Not bad slasher flick is a little far-fetched, but isn't that terrible. Immortal tagline: 'Buy a bag, go home in a box'. -- (TheVideoGraveYard.com)
Popcorn strikes me as Scream's older cousin, kind of like a nerdy film geek nobody really knows much about. As such, Popcorn is certainly a lot less self-consciously "hip" than its younger relative--and winds up being more fun in the process. What comes across in this film is not just an affinity for the horror genre but rather a genuine affection. --Jack Witzig (ColdSpot)

The flick literally looks and feels like a student project. There's no gore, sex or unintentional laughs to speak of. Just a boring movie that runs like an After School Special with washed up actors like Roberts. ... So weak it's worthless.-- (eSplatter.com)
