LINUS ROACHE (Capt. Peter A. Ross) recently starred in Pandemonium, the story of one of England's greatest poets, Samuel Coleridge. Set in 18th century rural England, Julian Temple's Pandemonium explores the poet's extraordinary life and works. Prior to that he co- starred in Best, the story of Manchester United soccer legend George Best. His other films include the Australian-filmed Siam Sunset, The Venice Project opposite Lauren Bacall and Dennis Hopper, and the much-lauded The Wings of the Dove, directed by Ian Softley and starring Helena Bonham Carter. In 1994 Roache starred in the highly controversial Priest. Set in the harsh, homophobic North of England, Antonia Bird's film explores the taboo of a Catholic priest who falls in love with another man, played by Robert Carlyle.
Born in Manchester, England, Roache was a child actor who began his professional career at age 11 with a two-week appearance in the long-running British soap opera Coronation Street. After playing a boy stricken with Bubonic plague in The Onedine Line (1970), Linus spent much of the next two decades on stage. This stage success culminated with Jonathan Kent's recent, highly-acclaimed production of Shakespeare's Richard II and Coriolan us, in which Linus took the co-lead alongside Ralph Fiennes. This Almeida Theatre production ran in London and then New York and Tokyo. He returned to television with an appearance in the series Link in 1986, and received widespread attention in 1994 after appearing in the popular BBC series Seaforth.
