SEAN BEAN plays Koster, a criminal mastermind of a daring bank heist gone awry, who can only acquire his payoff if he can get to a "key" locked away in the battered psyche of a psychiatric patient.
Bean is best known for his villainous roles in "Patriot Games," "Ronin," "Goldeneye," "Stormy Monday" and "The Field." This year, he has three starring roles in major feature films. In addition to DON'T SAY A WORD, Bean stars in "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring," the first of J.R.R.Tolkien's trilogy, with Sir Ian McKellen, Sir Ian Holm, Cate Blanchett and Liv Tyler. He plays the human, 'Boromir,' a heroic friend of the Hobbits and a believer in the greatness of men. Also due for release is the thriller "Librium," in which Bean stars opposite Christian Bale and Emily Watson as a police officer in charge of supervising the citizens' daily doses of Librium. Realizing the ramifications, Bean's character Partridge,' stops taking his dose and sees society as it really is, leading to tragic results. Bean will follow that with a starring role in the independent film "Thom and Thomas."
His additional screen credits include "Anna Karenina," "When Saturday Comes," "Shopping," "Black Beauty" and "Caravaggio." He starred as 'Richard Sharpe' in more than a dozen critically acclaimed television films, including "Sharpe's Waterloo," "Sharpe's Justice," "Sharpe's Revenge" and "Sharpe's Rifles," among many others. He has guest starred on "Vicar of Dibley," "The Late Jonathan Ross" and "Inspector Morse."
Bean has performed on stage in the Royal Shakespeare Company's productions of "Romeo & Juliet," "Fair Maid of the West" and "Midsummer Night's Dream," and in a Royal Court Theater production of "Kiling the Cat." Born in Sheffield, England, Bean attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts.
