ALAN CUMMING's eclectic career has included a myriad of outstanding performances in theater, feature films, stand-up comedy and writing and directing for film and television. His unforgettable portrayal of the Emcee in the Broadway musical of "Cabaret" was one of the most celebrated performances of recent years, earning him the Tony Award, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle Theater World and New York Public Advocate's Award. For the original London production, he received an Olivier Award nomination.
Since leaving Broadway, Cumming has proven to be one of the busiest actors in Hollywood. He was most recently seen opposite an all-star cast in "The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas," and in "Urbania" which received acclaim at this year's Sundance Film Festival. Cumming recently appeared opposite Anthony Hopkins and Jessica Lange in "Titus," the highly-anticipated directorial debut of Julie Taymor, had a memorable role in Stanley Kubrick's "Eyes Wide Shut" opposite Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, and starred in Jake Scott's "Plunkett and Macleane."
Additional film credits include: "Get Carter," "Spice World," "Romy and Michele's High School Reunion," "Buddy," "Emma," "Goldeneye," "Circle of Friends," "Black Beauty," "Prague," for which he received Best Actor honors at the Atlantic Film Festival, and "Second Best." He will next be seen in "Company Man" starring Sigourney Weaver, Woody Allen, and John Turturro and "Josie and the Pussycats" with Rachael Leigh Cook and Parker Posey.
Cumming also makes his directorial debut with "The Anniversary Party," an ensemble drama he co-wrote, co-directed and co-stars in with Jennifer Jason Leigh. The film also stars Gywneth Paltrow, Phoebe Cates, Kevin Kline, John C. Reilly, Parker Posey and Jennifer Beals.
Currently, Cumming is making his highly-anticipated return to the stage in the Roundabout Theatre Production of Noel Coward's "Design for Living" with Jennifer Ehle.
On television, Cumming provided the voice of the Devil in NBC's controversial animated comedy "God, the Devil and Bob" and starred in the ABC musical production of "Annie."
