Plot: A nightmare world of machines are taking over the Earth. At first the problems seem minor as gas pumps stop pumping fuel, video games flash and beep uncontrollably, and soda machines spit change and soda pop wildly. However, when the carnage begins, a small group of people make a last stand against a horde of massive 18-wheelers. A comic horror flick from Stephen King, based on his short story "Trucks."

King himself even proclaims this as a 'moron movie' and he’s completely right. It’s a ho-hum time but there’s enough memorable moments on hand to make it cheesy viewing even if a lot of logic questions may just nag at your mind... -- (TheVideoGraveYard.com)
People have dissed the film as total crap, but it isn't that bad, particularly if you're an AC/DC fan. At the same time, "Maximum Overdrive" isn't anything to twist and shout about either. King never directed another movie.-- (eSplatter.com)
