Plot: In this grisly black comedy, David Kessler and Jack Goodman (David Naughton and Griffin Dunne, respectively) are two American students on a backpacking tour of Europe. Wandering the backroads of gloomy East Proctor, England, they find a pub where the unhelpful locals act suspiciously strange. The unsuspecting boys flee the pub in search of lodging after being warned to avoid the moors. Lost in the dark countryside, the pair is attacked by a werewolf. Only David survives, waking up three weeks later in a London hospital. As David begins to regain his memory he is tormented by nightmares and is visited by his dead friend Jack, who warns David that he will turn into a werewolf with the next full moon--and that the only way to lift the curse is to kill himself. external linkThis is considered one of the best modern werewolf movies and I have to agree since barely any similarly themed movies since have really worked. It has a great 'moon' themed soundtrack, above average transformation/creature effects by Rick Baker, lots ofmorbid comedy and some really wacky nightmare sequences. 3/4

external link...shocking and genuinely funny—with an incredible oldies soundtrack —Landis' film is a horror masterpiece and he never came close to making as good a movie ever again in his career.

external linkThe actors are not all that well known but the performances are good. The make up and effects are brilliant and the humour is delightful. The fully changed werewolf is rather frightening and director has kept it as true to life as he can, making it believable yet shocking. 5/5

external linkThis is one of my all time favorite films, and to see it presented here in such fine quality, and with an abundance of supplemental materials, is truly a joy. This is one of those few DVD's that get's everything right, so get out there and grab a copy! 5/5

external linkGood story; good humor; sweet gore; werewolf running amok in the crowded streets of London; what more could you want? Definitely worth a check if you haven't seen it already. 8/10

external linkClassic to the bone the movie delivers just the right amount of blood and gore, but its will to keep the movie funny is amazing 5/5
