Don’t get me wrong, this film is weird and it’s difficult. It will surely draw comparisons to “Lost Highway” and other David Lynch films. But “The Machinist” is so brave and visually impressive, it should demand an audience. -- (FilmThreat.com)
I'd recommend THE MACHINIST to anyone who enjoys a well-structured mystery set in the dark underground of one's subconscious with a slab of Jennifer Jason Leigh tittie dropped in for effect, the great Michael Ironside tossed in for further street cred and plenty of head games to keep one guessing until the very end. 8/10--'JoBlo' (JoBlo.com)
..director, Brad Anderson, does an amazing job of using lighting, or lack thereof, to create a gloomy mood and make the viewer feel almost as in the dark as Trevor Reznik. Another key element is Christian Bale, in yet another of his self disciplined roles. --Jam, Slice, Derminator (Bloody-Disgusting.com)
The Machinist will kick you in the ass, punch you in the gut and then knock you out- it will torment you, shock you and have you leaving the theater without words. But ultimately you will absolutely love it and then pray that more sophisticated mind candy like The Machinist hits theaters in the future. --Mr. Disgusting (Bloody-Disgusting.com)

Another good mystery from director Brad Anderson. Worth a check if you're looking for a flick with a plot, but be prepared of the slow pace. 7/10--FrighT MasteR (UHM)
We see a gritty, dirty tale with scenes that would frighten the living day lights out of you if you like to keep a clear head, the emotion drips off our screens to make you feel for the guy stuck in the middle. -- (terrorwatch.net)
