Lord of Illusions (1995)

Now a successful magician in his own right, Swann finds himself stalked by Nix's followers, who want Nix's corpse so they can bring it back to life. Swann's wife Dorothea, aware of the dangers facing her husband, hires hard-boiled detective Harry D'Amour to watch over Philip. Barker's first misfire suffers from a jumbled plot and slow pace. Unexciting dud from the mind behind the enjoyable Hellraiser, Nightbreed and Candyman films. 

Unfortunately, like much of this writer/director's work, the film suffers from too much pretentiousness. Barker likes to believe that his work is somehow something more than just schlock—which it isn't. But the awesome effects during the film's finish more than make up for these usual Barker flaws.
